Differentiation is made easy with myView Literacy. Whole group mini lessons within the Teacher’s Edition come equipped with English Language Learner scaffolds to help bridge language barriers. The Reading Routines Companion lives alongside the Teacher’s Edition and gives teachers additional options for reteaching foundational skills, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Daily formative assessment guidance provides a path for educators to remediate or enrich during small group time. The small group menu pages give new lesson plans for each day, correspond directly with the whole group lesson, and allow teachers to meet the needs of each of their groups. Leveled content readers, myFocus content readers and decodable stories all come with meaningful teaching plans to give students more skills practice with additional text selections. myFocus Intevention is a targeted, skill specific resource that can be used in a variety of ways. Many teachers use myFocus Intervention to support their Tier 2 Instruction in small groups. Lesson topics can be correlated with whole group lessons or taught in isolation to help zero in on closing learning gaps. Whether teachers choose to move through the resource sequentially or dip in and out based on student data, they can feel confident that myFocus Intervention lessons will give them everything they need to reteach skills with a fresh perspective, helping students to clarify misconceptions and grow their understanding.
Throughout whole group instruction, teachers will find tiered scaffolds that align to the WIDA proficiency levels and help bring English Language Learners into conversations around text. These scaffolds are located at multiple points throughout lessons to ensure that English Language Learners are engaging with instruction at the same rate as their English-speaking peers. myView Literacy utilizes a consistent routine for teaching comprehension that includes five lessons. In lesson one, students are introduced to the genre of a text and work with an anchor chart to help them visualize text characteristics. In lesson two, students and teachers work through a shared reading of a text. Here, teachers are modeling good strategies with think aloud prompts and cooperative learning opportunities. Students choral read, practice decoding and engage with comprehension questions. Lessons three and four of comprehension instruction target a specific comprehension skill and teach students the process for close reading text. Citing text evidence and working with higher order questioning empowers students to understand the complexity of a text in its entirety. Finally, lesson five of the routine challenges students to reflect on their reading. Here, they work to compare across texts, engage in discussions and write to sources. All lessons center around one anchor text, allowing students to gain comfortability with a selection and teachers to dive deeper into comprehension instruction. This predictable routine is repeated weekly throughout the school year to provide students with consistency in rigor and confidence in tackling complex text.

As students progress through the primary grades, they grow as readers using systematic and explicit instruction of phonological awareness skills. In phonics instruction, students learn about letter patterns and morphology to support the development of decoding and encoding skills. The connected instruction in the Teacher’s Edition and Reading Routines Companion help teachers set priorities and reinforce strong routines that directly impact student literacy. A systematic four-step routine introduces the skill, allows for teaching, modeling, guided practice, and independent work. Student practice, decodable readers, and multisensory activities connect directly to the whole group and small group lessons in the Teacher’s Edition to provide meaningful connections between skill practice and application.
myView Literacy incorporates the five pillars of social-emotional learning to ensure student success beyond the text. Each unit in the myView Student Interactive begins and ends with exercises to promote organization and self-awareness. During the unit and weekly launch, Turn and Talks engage students in lively discussions as they share their perspectives. After each selection, students participate in a Reflect and Share activity using communication tips and prompts. myView gives students the opportunity to work with peers on writing activities as they explain their views and develop the art of giving and receiving feedback. Book Club provides a set-aside time for students to meet in small groups to discuss a trade book for the unit. This collaboration, centered around meaningful conversation, increases student engagement, and fosters a love of reading. Each myView unit culminates with project-based learning where students work together to showcase their growth. These real-world inquiry projects blend problem-solving, organization, and teamwork— with a whole lot of creativity! The writing block within myView Literacy can be organized in a variety of ways. Regardless of the amount of time allotted for writing instruction, writing mini lessons ensure that teachers are maximizing instructional time. Students will spend the bulk of their writing time becoming authors and practicing skills, giving teachers opportunities to conduct writing conferences and differentiate. Fast Track icons within each week allow teachers to prioritize which lessons are most crucial for ensuring that all writing standards are covered, even when time is limited.

SuccessMaker Reading helps students achieve growth from any starting point. It’s a “strong” evidence-based intervention under ESSA, with high-interest reading, tutorials, scaffolds, hints, videos, and minilessons. Because it’s adaptive, SuccessMaker continually differentiates instruction for all readers. It intervenes when there’s a learning gap, and it challenges independent readers who are ready for more. It’s an adaptive learning program that deepens conceptual understanding with targeted print lessons and supplements myView Literacy’s instruction.
