It all starts with engagement. Self-selected reading, high-interest texts, cool topics, and digital interactivity raise interest and proficiency. A simple, consistent routine invites students to read, write, think, speak, and listen daily.
Begin with self-selected reading—students choose from a high-interest e-library of 3000+ texts.
Focus on vocabulary, academic language, and conversational language needed for the Read Aloud, Think Aloud.
Read aloud the anchor text, or play the audio narration, to model effective reading skills and strategies as you go.
Engage students in conversations about the anchor text. Students can work in pairs, small groups, or as a class.
Model the day’s reading strategy, writing task, or language convention to reinforce the main teaching point.
Give students time to practice the skill or strategy based on their needs. Differentiate instruction in small groups.
