Entrepreneurship: Owning Your Future

Entrepreneurship: Owning Your Future provides a comprehensive guide to
developing a business plan in today’s competitive and highly technical environment. The text focuses on critical basic business skills including communication, financial management, negotiating, business ethics, social responsibility, and goal setting.

 

The program is authored by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). NFTE is a global educational nonprofit focused on bringing the power of entrepreneurship to youth in low-income communities. Since its founding more than 30 years ago, NFTE has trained thousands of teachers and educated more than a million young people worldwide.

The program meets the standards for the Entrepreneurship & Small Business certification from Certiport.

 

Chapter Openers Each chapter begins with a series of features designed to introduce the chapter topics in an engaging, real-world context.

  • Objectives The easy-to-understand section objectives identify the key concepts in each section.
  • Application to Business Planning Each topic relates to the ongoing business plan being developed.

  • Lesson Vocabulary The vocabulary introduced in the section are listed for easy review at the beginning of each section.
  • Career Competencies Each topic develops skills essential to professional business success.
 

Engaging Chapter Features

Throughout the chapter students will find features that focus on entrepreneurial investigations and case studies highlighting successful entrepreneurs. These features also help integrate workplace-relevant activities to core academic standards.

  • End-of-Chapter Assessment Each chapter ends with a series of review questions that check the student’s understanding of the chapter content from a variety of perspectives. 
  • Reviewing Objectives These questions revisit the chapter objectives from the chapter opener. 
  • Critical Thinking These prompts students to think deeper about key concepts.
  • Entrepreneurial Thinking Exercises These assessment questions help develop and reinforce the entrepreneurial mindset. 
  • Extension Activities These activities provide alternatives to further reinforce chapter content.
  • Student Activity Workbook The Student Activity Workbook is also available for additional practice for each chapter and as a resource to develop the Business Plan. 
  • VitalSource eText The program includes a VitalSource etext with search, navigation, study tools, and read aloud features. The VitalSource platform enables students to access their text from any device connected to the Internet. Students can also download and save their text for offline use.

Teacher's Resources

The program includes robust teacher resources including a Teacher’s Wraparound Edition, a Test Bank with TestGen software, and PowerPoint slides for classroom or remote presentations.
