The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act provides funding to states for the improvement of vocational and technical education programs. The program is administered by the Office of Vocational and Adult Education.
Distribution: Funds are provided to the states which then allocate formula funds and/or competitive grants to school districts and postsecondary institutions. Since each state allocates Perkins funds differently, we recommend contacting your state Perkins Coordinator for specific details.
How the funds can be used: Funds are used to establish and maintain career and technical education programs offered in middle schools, high schools, community and technical colleges, and other postsecondary institutions. Perkins funds can be used to purchase equipment, curriculum, new technology, and professional development that support career and technical programs.
