Katie Thorne is a Registered Nurse at University Hospitals, Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland, OH. She has been a Registered Nurse for six years and has developed an undeniable passion for this profession. Although her road had many twists, turns, and lane changes, she is here to tell you it’s worth it if it means finding your path. Katie’s original dream job was to become a Physical Therapist for the USA Olympic Team. To pursue this dream, she went to Slippery Rock University to complete a degree in Exercise Science. It wasn’t until her Anatomy II class sophomore year of college, where she was more interested in internal medicine versus the biomechanics of the body. After obtaining her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science, she went to Cleveland State University for the Accelerated Bachelors of Science of Nursing degree. That’s when she realized she was on the right path. While in nursing school, she became a nursing assistant on the Malignant Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant unit at University Hospitals. This gave her the opportunity to learn which field of nursing she wanted to specialize in. Six years later, she continues to appreciate and embrace the opportunities presented to her, and looks forward to seeing where this career path will take her next.
