November 03, 2022 09:00 AM EST - November 03, 2022 09:30 AM EST

Gears are mechanical components that transfer a force between machine components in mechanical devices. They can change the direction of movement and/or increase the output speed based on their design and construction.

But how do they work? We’ll explore several different types of gears, investigate how gears work together to transfer energy, and invite students to participate in a problem-solving engineering challenge.
