Dr. Roni Ellington has been a mathematics educator for the past 20 years and has worked as a mathematics/STEM professional development consultant for various school districts and organizations. Currently, she is an associate professor of Mathematics Education at Morgan State University. Dr. Ellington is committed to promoting the mathematics education of African American students.

Dr. Ellington’s research interests include developing interdisciplinary curriculum, understanding the experiences of faculty engaged in interdisciplinary research and teaching, the professional development of urban mathematics teachers, equity and social justice mathematics education, diversity and inclusion in STEM related fields, and the training and development of minority scholars in education. She is currently a Principal Investigator on the NSF Funded SEMINAL Project which is focused on transforming the culture of the mathematics department through integrating culturally responsive teaching as an active learning framework in undergraduate mathematics classrooms. In addition, Dr. Ellington participates as a Co-Principal Investigator on the Bessie Coleman Project, a research project focused on improving students' interest in STEM through engaging in out- of-school STEM experiences.
