Karina Chapa Vargas is an immigrant from Mexico. She came to the United States at the age of 15, and started high school. By 17, Karina knew she wanted to part of the United States Air Force. She graduated high school in three years and left home for the military. While in the military, Karina was able to receive the schooling and training she needed to pursue her STEM career. Karine has been a Certified Surgical Technologist for the last 20yrs. She currently works at a level 1 trauma center where she is part of the abdominal transplant team.
